Chaotic situation brews in Kaup Congress, Confusion in selection of candidate

Mangalore, April 8: Days are fast approaching for the assembly election but confusion in the selection of candidates for the Kaup constituency still remains a mystery for some. The Party has announced the candidates for 177 constituencies but candidates from Kaup constituency are yet to be decided.

In Kaup constituency, as the days are passing fresh names of probable’s are cropping up and told that congress ticket has already been given to Vasanth Salian and Suresh Shetty and finalization of Sarasu Bangera under Women’s quota and Gafoor under minority quota in limbo.As per some sources party is contemplating to declare Sorake as the party’s candidate from Kaup.

It is reliably learnt that as many as 15 aspirants from South and North are trying their hard to get an access to the coveted ticket and believed some of them even visited Delhi in this connection.

Although Vasanth Salian-former minister and Suresh P Shetty, emerged as the most eligible contenders for this constituency as decided by Congress election committee meeting, the fight for the tickets reached beyond saturation level now and it has been understood that the responsibility of deciding on candidate has been entrusted to Oscar Fernandez.

Oscar Fernandez after having special discussion with these candidates said that a list with the names of Vasanth Salian,Suresh shetty  Gurme,Sarasu Bangera,M.Gafoor,Harish Kini and former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake,has been sent to New Delhi for the final decision.

Name of former MLA Lalaji Mendon from BJP has already been finalized and he is all set for his first stage of election campaign and various meetings are being organized.

Besides in Kaup, the similar situation in Mangalore North too had arised, where there are three aspirants like Moideen Bava, Kripa Alva and Vinaya Kumar shetty.

Therefore people are eagerly waiting for the announcement of second list, it is said.
