Shirooru: Minister lays foundation stone for constuction of “Guide wall ”; Cost of the project Rs 9.80 crore

Kundapur; Nov 23: Vinaya Kumar Sorake, minister for urban development and district-in-charge laid a foundation stone for the construction of ‘Guide wall’ near mini fisheries bunder in shirur Aalvegadde of Kundapur taluk on Nov 22, Friday evening. The cost of the project would be around Rs 9.80 crore.

Speaking on this occasion, Abhayachandra Jain, minister for youth welfare and sports affairs and fisheries’ said in his speech that government has earmarked Rs 9.80 crore for Aalvegadde project in this year’s budget. In this year’s budget maximum of fund has been reserved for fisheries and the amount, which used to give to the houses of fishermen has been increased to Rs 1.2 lac from Rs 60 lac. For the repair of link-roads Rs 30 crore and for the repair of roads under NABAD Rs 30 crore, like this a total of Rs 60 crore will be provided and for Mangalore fisheries college Rs 4 crore, for Gangolli port’s break water project with the help of union government Rs 102 crore and for Koderi port’s second phase project finance department has sanctioned Rs 33 crore and within one week time after obtaining approval from the cabinet, money will be made available, he said.

Ban on bull trawler boats:

It has been decided in the recent meeting  held on Nov 22,Friday with  minister R.V.Deshpande,north Kannada’s district in charge along with other authorities and representatives of fishermen to ban immediately ‘Bull trawler fishing’ – which was the main reason, which created a miss-understanding, differences of opinions and clashes between fishermen community in the state.

Highway repair:

K.Gopala Poojary, Byndoor legislator, who presided over the function, said in his address that fund of Rs 84 lac required for the repair of completely damaged highway from Kundapur to shirur has been sanctioned and work has been started from today and  work will be completed within 15 days, he said.

He further said that union government’s CRF fund has been requested for more grant-in-aid for Karnataka coastal region and it is in the stage of sanctioning. Before Dec 15, union minister will inaugurate four lane highway works from Kundapur to Shirur, said poojary.

In the function Vidhana parishat member Pratapchandra Shetty, taluk panchayat member Savitri Narayana Aalvegadde,president of shirur gram panchayat Rama Mesta, port and fisheries chief engineer T.S.Ratod, assistant engineer N.M.Kharvi, fisheries assistant director M.D.Prasad were present.

Vinaya Kumar Sorake,minister for urban development said that it is under the consideration of government for the construction of three connecting highways from Udupi-Karkal through Guruvayanakere  with Gundya.Likewise for the repair of not travel worthy at all Udupi-Karkal highway Rs 2.5 crore grant-in-aid has been released, he said.
