Udupi; Nov 21: Assistant director of women and children welfare department has announced that all the marriage agents/operators/promoters/private operators/organizations/temples/trusts in the district, which conducts/organizes mass marriages, should compulsorily register as the organizers of mass marriages in the registrar office and thereafter it should be renewed every five year. Those who do not adhere, comply with the directives/orders are not allowed to organize the mass marriages, it said.
It has been brought to the knowledge of the department that without adhering and by violating the Supreme Court’s core committee’s report and guidelines about the rituals for mass marriages by the department of revenue, some operators/private individuals/temples/trusts/organizations are organizing/conducting mass marriages without obtaining prior permission from taluk tahsildars.The department has released this announcement, only after it came to know about the irregularities in mass marriages, it said.
