Kasargod, Nov 20: Imam Hussein (53), accused in the killing of couple Srikrishna Bhat and his wife Devaloka, from Kasargod about twenty years ago has been declared guilty by the additional district and session’s court on November 19
The court will pronounce its verdict on November 21.
The notorious black magician Hussein murdered Sri Krishna Bhat (45) and his wife Srimathi (35), residents of Devaloka-Perla on October 9, 1993. He had then escaped with their jewellery.
Police were on the lookout for Imam ever since the crime took place, but could not find him. The special appointed police, of Bangalore crime branch at Nela Mangala succeeded in arresting the culprit on April 20, 2012 who was produced in the district additional court (2) today.
In 1993 Imam was staying at Mangalore and he was doing black magic and astrology. Shrikanth Bhat and his wife sow the advertisement in the newspaper and they invited him to their resident. He made them believe that there was a treasure in their house. Then he murdered Bhat and buried him in the same pit, which was dug by them to get the treasury out. He then came back and strangled his wife and fled away with their valuables.
There were 68 witnesses in the case, but over the years, due to deaths and other reasons, the number of witnesses was reduced to 39.
It was also learnt that the jewelry that he had stolen while committing the murder was sold to a jewelry shop at Pune, although when the police officials cross checked there was no such shop.
The case was solved as it had 39 witnesses to authenticate that the crime was done by Imam Husain. The public prosecutor, MS Thomas D’souza was present in the court.
