Mangalore, Nov. 15: Corporation Bank celebrated the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru and children’s day on Thursday Nov. 14.

S R Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director of the Bank paid floral tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s Statue in front of the Corporate Office at Mangalore.

 Amar Lal Daultani and B K Srivastav, Executive Directors of the bank. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President, Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Dakshina Kannada District, Basheer Baikampady, Bharat Seva Dal District Unit President, General Managers, Executives and Employees of Corporation Bank were present on the occasion.

Children and Teachers from many schools and members of Bharat Seva Dal of Mangalore took part in the programme.

S R Bansal, enlightened the children about the significance of the day and greeted them on Children’s Day. Speaking on the occasion Shri Bansal said, “Children’s Day is celebrated on 14^th November every year, because the date marks the birth anniversary of independent India’s first Prime Minister – Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, as a tribute to him and his love for children. Nehruji was fond of both children and roses. In fact he often compared the two, saying that children were like the buds in a garden.” Children are future of the nation and citizens of tomorrow they should get good education and prosper in life, he said. He also stressed that they should aim high in life and do good to the society and most importantly to respect their parents.

Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, wished everyone on the occasion of Nehru Jayanti and Childern’s Day. He thanked Corporation Bank for coordinating this Nehru Jayanti and Children’s Day celebrations every year.
