Terror link with Mangalore: NIA arrests Ayesha Banu from city for funding terrorists

Mangalore, Nov 12: Ayesha Banu a Mangalorean woman  has been arrested by National Investigative Agency (NIA) on Monday night for supplying money to the terrorist’s suspects belonging to Indian Mujahideen who allegedly carried out the attack in Patna ahead of Modi rally recently, sources said.

Aysha Banu, a resident of Panjimogeru is named in the report filed by Lakhisarai police in the case, it is learnt.

According to sources, Aysha Banu was at her residence at Panjimogaru on November 11, Monday, but her house was locked on Tuesday. The suspicion is that she has been arrested by the NIA on Monday night itself

It is said that Aysha was born as ‘Asha’, a Hindu, and later she fell in love with a Muslim and converted to Islam. The couple has three children and that her husband Zubair runs a bidi business.

Aysha Banu was operating as many as 35 bank accounts in different  names and that her aides Mohammad Kismet and Mohammad Fayaz of Lakhisarai had  managed to lure local youth to open bank accounts.

The youth were reportedly given 10 per cent commission and that the amount used to be withdrawn by IM men from ATMs. It is learnt, a sum of Rs 49000 used to be withdrawn at a time as withdrawal of a higher amount would require the account holder to have a Pan card.

Her husband Zubair too has been taken into custody, sources said.
