Mangalore, Oct. 30: Namma Kudla’ a local television channel organised annual ‘Goodudeepa contest and awarding ceremony at Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra on Friday, November 1st.
The premise of Kudroli Temple was filled with various coloured, attractive goodu deepas. To see the beautiful sky lantern hundreds of people gathered at the temple.
The contest was organized in the three categories; traditional, modern and models. In each division first and second prize winner got a gold coin. And all participants honoured with memento.
More than 500 colourful lanterns decorated in the premises of the Temple. A goodu deepa made by coconut shell, Taj Mahal, Vivekananda memorial rock at Kanyakumari, Kudroli temple, Ratha, and many other unusual and creative goodudeepa made the competition tough for the judges.
The channel honoured ‘Namma Kudla’ award to the Director of Alva’s Education Trust. ‘Namma Tuluver award’ to the president of Shri Devi Group of Education Institution Mangalore and also ‘Namma Kudla Bahumuka Pratibhe’ awards to the student of St. Aloysius College.
The former minister of the state Krishna J Palimar presided over the function and MCC commissioner Shanadi Ajith Kumar inaugurated the contest at Santhoshi Kalamantap at the Temple.
Fishery and youth minister K. Abhaychandra Jain, The Kudrolli Temple administrative committee president Sai Ram, treasurer Padmaraj, Harish B Karkera the director of Namma Kudla Channel. Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli The producers of the channel Leelaksha Karkera, Mohan Karkera Suresh Karkera and Dr B G Suvarna, Navaneeth Shetty were also present.
