Mangalore, Oct 29: Though the demand for the arrest of the real accused in the Sowjanya rape and murder case is justifiable, but it is wrong to tarnish the image of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala and Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade on this pretext,” said Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Gurupur Vajradehi Mutt.
He was addressing a protest organized by Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Devotees’ Association and Dr Vereendra Heggade fans’ club here on Tuesday.
Some have demanded the resignation of Dharmadhikari over the issue. It is not a political post. When we have a prime minister who has not quit despite several scams, why should Heggade quit over such baseless allegations,” he questioned. “We should fight for justice to Sowjanya and not to dent the image of anyone,” he added.
Sri Mohandasa Swamiji of Sri Kshetra Manila too condemned the move of forces connecting Dr Heggade and Dharmasthala to Saujanya murder case. “Dr Heggade has contributed in great way to both religious area and social development. It is better if name of Dharmasthala and Dharmadhikari is kept away from the case,” he said.
Dugganna Savantha Arasaru of Mulki Seeme, Vajrakumar Karnantaya Ballal of Kulurbeedu, Raghunath Shet, Suresh Ballal, Shubhakar Ullal, Mohammad Ismail, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and others were present.
