Belthangady, Oct. 28: Prakash Karat, CPIM General Secretary paid visit to the home of late Sowjanya at Pangala, Dharmasthala on Sunday, Oct 27th.

He has assured to raise the Sowjanya case in the Parliament if the state government fails to take the issue seriously.

Speaking to the press persons he said that why the State Government hesitant to hand over Sowjanya rape-cum-murder case to the CBI. All the people are claiming that the investigation was not conducted in proper manner. So it is suspected that the real culprit has not been arrested. The State Government has to arrive at a decision quickly. CPI(M) will take all the necessary actions. Sowjanya’s parents should get justice. We oppose such incidents and we will give all support to Sowjanya’s parents,”he assured.

The investigation into the case has already been delayed and there would be no scope for further delay. The CPI (M) would launch a statewide movement in this regard, he said and added   even talks would be held with the Chief minister to concede to the demand for a CBI probe, Karat said.

GV Srirama Reddy, CPI(M) State Secretary said “no political party was showing courage to speak against influential persons. This is the cause of the delay in the probe. The state ministers are speaking in favour of those who are being blamed in the case, he assumed.

CPI(M) leaders Vasantha Achary, BM Bhat, Sukanya, District DYFI President Muneer Katipalla, writerAtradi Amritha Shetty were present.
