Karkala; Oct 26: On Friday morning, a bus station in the heart of the city Karkala was filled with full of confusion everywhere. Some people holding measuring tape running along with the staff of the Department of Taluk geometry , while putting the measure to mark the location of the work carried out, unearthed there .
While Postal staff co-ordinating the work, police were taking enough precautions in order to prevent any untoward incidents. Even bus drivers and the general public were in utter commotion to know that what was going on here!!. But it is clearing operation of the Postal Department of the space.
25 cents of land in the heart of the city belongs to Postal Department, which was under the contract made with then CPC Company since 1980, then subsequently purchased from CPC Company in 1991. However when, the dispute between moolagenidara and CPC company was settled, the postal department has got all its records of documents pertaining to registration of postal department’s land in 1999.
Thereafter since the order has not received from the ministry of land for the procession of the land, the news has not been published yet. But on Thursday, when the order was received for the procession of land by the department, immediately on Friday morning, the postal department personnel led by Puttur division’s senior postal authority G.T.Naik with all the relevant documents of the land attended. Then with the co-operation of Municipal and police department, additional space encroached by the shop owners though cleared by the department and the landmark was turned down by the shop owners.
Now with this sudden decision of department of senior postal superintendent, half portion of the bus station has been cleared and now everybody is anxious to know about what will be the municipality’s next step of move?
With regard to the dispute about the migration of existing bus station to Bandipura, the high court has ordered to utilize both bus stations equally after the public, shop owners raised an objection for the move and submitted a memorandum.
Although, both bus stations were being utilized and all the road maps, sign boards have been displayed in the beginning as per high court order, gradually the utilization of Bandipura bus station stopped in the pretext of drivers cannot cope with their time schedule. Now the old bus station only being utilized at the cost of Bandipura bus station.
When the survey was done for the remaining part of the bus stand under the leadership of municipal chief executive Gopal Shetty, it was observed the evidences of government land, wherein flower shoppers doing their business after encroaching the space. However that issue has been cleared after convincing the flower shop owners. Even there is no space for rickshaw parking in the bus station.
However, with the sudden operation of postal department, one thing is certain that the existing bus station will be shifted to Bandipura only at last!!
The bus station is at the end of the migration of the confusion in this case … ?
