Mangalore, Oct 24: A woman from Mulky passed away a week after delivering a baby in Lady Goschen hospital on Wednesday October 23. The baby died only a day after its birth.
The deceased has been identified as Prema Amin (35), wife of Madhava, from Aikala near Mulky.
A week ago Prema and Madhava had come to the city to make Aadhar card. Prema who was pregnant then went to Lady Goschen hospital for a check up. The doctors who checked her in the hospital told her that she had high blood pressure and asked her to get admitted immediately.
But the family says, she was 8 months pregnant. She delivered three days later, but the next day only the premature baby died.
One of the family member said that Prema was given some injection and she lost consciousness. And also he blamed that doctors did not come to her help.
To save Prema the family decided to take her to private hospital, but the hospital did not allow. They let us go to Wenlock hospital, and so we shifted there. But there also she was not get proper treatment,” he said.
The family is now demanding a separate post-mortem to be done in a private hospital. They have also approached Bunder police to lodge a complaint.
