Katpady: Three child labours saved; admitted in spoorthidhama

Kundapur; Oct 22: In a surprise raid conducted by the labor department on grocery shop at Katpady Yenagudda, in Udupi taluk, three child labors have been saved and subsequently admitted in Kundapur spoorthidhama.

As per the instruction of district labor officer,Udupi first circle labor inspector Ravi Kumar and Udupi district child labour sangha’s project authority Prabhakara Acharya have conducted the raid.

Since the shop owner did not furnish the age related documents, children had to be medically tested to authenticate the age of the children. After confirming the age, children would be admitted in the Spoorthidhama run child labors special residential school according to the statement given by Dr.Keshava Koteshwara, chief of Spoorthidhama.

During holidays time also, making children to work, who are below 14 years of age is a crime. In case, incident is proved, a fine of Rs 20,000 will be imposed along with legal action.
