Karkala; Oct 19: After inaugurating the ‘Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti’ day celebration function organized by Karkala taluk administration at taluk panchayat auditorium on Oct 18, Friday, Rashmi Shetty, taluk panchayat president said in her address that Maharshi Valmiki, an ordinary hunter after gaining abundant knowledge by performing stringent penance, who spreads the message of sacrifice through his great book Ramayana, is the classic example for the recognition. Each individual is recognized in the society but Valmiki is unique, she said.
K.M.E.S education institution’s Principal Ramachandra Nellikar as the main speaker in the function said that as the light poles are important for the movement of ships anchored on the beaches, religious books will help the people to move in a right direction and it is recorded in Valmiki’s great books.
V.Sunil Kumar, MLA has presided over the function and garlanded the portrait of Valmiki. He said that Rama’s principles in the Ramayana have been conveyed to the society through great man Valmiki’s books.
Chief guests like taluk panchayat vice president Jayaverma Hegde, taluk panchayat social justice samiti’s President Pravin Salian, taluk social Kalyana welfare official shrimati Anasuya, Raveendra Kumar were present.
Karkala tahsiladar Babu Devadiga has welcomed the guests, taluk panchayat working committee official Chennappa Moily proposed a vote of thanks and Balakrishna compered the programme.
A mini drama based on Valmiki’s life history has been enacted by students of Vidhyarthi Nilaya .
