Mangalore, Oct 19: Members of the All College Students Association staged a candle light protest in a remembrance of the birthday of Saujanya who was raped and murdered in Ujire a year ago.
The students demanded to handover the case to the CBI.
Dinakar Shetty, the state president of the Association, said the protests will continue till the “real culprits” were arrested. There are certain organisation spreading false information about Dr. Veerendra Heggade and the temple. We condemn this,” he said.
The Association also demanded that a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh be handed over to the parents of the victim.
Varsha Prabhu, a student of Canara Degree College, said that if CBI took over the case then only the case will be solved and the real culprit will arrest. We want the culprits to be punished,” she said.
Now there was fear among girl students, after seeing various incidents of sexual assault, harassment on girls in district. So we need freedom of go around without any fear, Preeti Prabhakar, a student, said.
The district secretary of organization Rakshith S Poojary, Rakesh Shetty, Utham Alva, Shipal Raj, Satyajith Prabhu were participated in the protest.
