Udupi: Former BJP MLA Raghupati Bhat is all set to marry second time on Oct 09

Udupi; Oct 08: Raghupati Bhat, two-time MLA of Udupi, who was embroiled in so many controversies following his first wife Padmapriya’s death in 2008, is all set to marry for the second time on October 09th.

Addressing the media reporters called by himself on October 7, Monday, Bhat has announced that he would be marrying Shilpa Shastry, a resident of Barkur at Karamballi Venkataramana Temple on October, 09, Wednesdy at 08.20 am. Thereby he put an end to the speculations circulating amongst people about his marriage.

According to the sources, Shilpa herself was a divorcee and was married before to the son of retired assistant sub-inspector.

Bhat, continuing his speech said that there were doubts in the minds of the people about my second marriage. Therefore I have called this press meet to make it clear and announce that I will be getting married on Oct 09th, with the consent from both families, he said.

Further, he said that he wanted to take break from the active politics for next two years and live peaceful family life but it does not mean that he will be completely off the politics and will continue to remain in politics, he added.

The wedding ceremony is purely private and limited only to family members and friends.

According to the sources, Shilpa is an employee of co-operative bank and Bhat met her first time at a family function.

Bhat, who born on February 24, 1969, began his career as BJP member, then became district president of BJP Yuva Morcha and in 2004 he was elected as MLA of Udupi and again in 2008 re-elected in assembly elections.

A controversy over a sleaze CD allegedly involving him forced him to withdraw from contesting in the 2013 Assembly elections.

Bhat has got two sons.
