Karkala; Sept 29: Villagers staged a protest against the construction of BSNL tower in the vicinity of Janatha colony, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kucchur village panchayat in Karkala taluk and submitted a memorandum to panchayat president.
Local residents Vittal Poojary and Thammayya Naik on behalf of the villagers alleged that in spite of submitting memorandum opposing the construction of tower to district commissioner, tahsildar and local MLA, with the support of local panchayat members and after obtaining green signal from them, they are forcefully constructing the tower against the wish of the villagers, he said.
In case, an opportunity has been created to build tower, the houses of Janatha colony vicinity including SC/ST houses, a total of 35 houses might have to face problems, it alleged.
In case, the tower is built, a fierce protest will be staged in front of the Panchayat, they warned.
Amongst residents,Dinesh Nayak,Sheena Poojary,Santhosh Poojary,Nagaraja Poojary,Krishnamurthy and among others were participated in the protest.
