Udupi; Sept 22: Addressing the audience in 20th celebration of “Onam” on Sept 22, Sunday at Bannanje Narayana Guru Sabha Bhavana organized by Kerala Cultural and Social Centre, Udupi, Vinaya Kumar Sorake, minister for urban development and district in charge said in his chief guest address that Keralites’ contribution to society is abundant. Supporting the agriculture in the coastal region, by cultivating rubber plantation for the first time in Shiradi Ghat, they have contributed enormously towards agricultural field.
Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are always in the front line in following all types of culture and traditions celebration in the region. May be because Keralites are very close to us, our food culture is matching with Keralites.He also added that Keralites,who have been living for 30-40 years, do not have their letter of ownership/rights and the same will be regularized through Akrama-Sakrama soon, he said.
Inaugurating the function,Pramodh Madhwaraj,MLA said in his speech that Onam is the only one festival, which is being celebrated by all caste and religions and we have to respect,honour all the culture and traditions of all the caste,religion.If you visit any part of the world, Kerala community will be there. They are hard workers and the people, who are trying to unite the people. If Keralites want any help in udupi, I will help them more than what Kerala ministers and MLAs are helping, he added.
