Udupi: Govt releases Rs 12 Crore to restart Brahmavar Sugarcane factory – says Minister Sorake

Udupi;Sept 18: Inaugurating the government’s various facilities distribution function organized under the auspices of district administration and district panchayat at Ajjarekadu  town hall on Sept 18,Wednesday,Vinaya Kumar Sorake,minister for urban development and district in charge said in his address that in order to make immediate pending salary payment of Brahmavar Sugar factory workers  and sugar cane farmers, we had a discussion with chief minister and accordingly Rs 12 crore has been released for the purpose, he said.

He further said that allotment of houses, which has been stopped in between will be resumed very soon. The pending jobs, which are supposed to be delivered to the public and is lying pending in the department has been given a green signal to expedite. We have also found a solution for the speedy completion of Varahi project, which has been slowed down due to some technical reason. Also found a solution to the problem of allowing 3 cents space in the land and also hurdles facing in the conversion of land in purchase, selling due to form No 9 & 11, will be abolished soon, he added.

While releasing the report on government’s various facilities meant for the public, Jayaprakash Hegde, MP said that there is a differences of opinion between PDO and secretaries and with mutual understanding works have to be carried out. It seems, we are betraying sugar factory workers and sugar cane farmers, if we don’t pay the pending salaries to them. Very few people are taking advantages of Mahatma Gandhi employment guarantee project. It is enough to have either NPR or Aadhar card, any one of them. Without the consent of land owners, lands cannot be acquired for the purpose of industrialization in the region. Before vacating the shop owners, who are coming under the jurisdiction of Purasabha, committee has to be formed to identify the places for them, he added.

Pramodh Madhwaraj, MLA has said in his presidential speech that eligible APL card holders can apply for BPL card.Aprt from 30 kg rice, they can also avail the facility of Rs 1.5 lac medical treatment under Vajpayee project. Free electric power connection will be provided. From the help of district hospital, free Rs 50 thousand will be given to cancer patients in KMC hospital and boiled rice will be given from next month onwards for the BPL card holders, he added.
