Udupi;Sept 14: Red cross organization has already started pure drinking water project at two places at the cost of Re 20 lac per unit and when you insert two rupee coin, 20 litre water will come, says Basrur Rajeev Shetty,Chairman,Bharatiya Red cross foundation.
Shetty has inaugurated the “ Pre-preparation ear impression taking ” camp to provide hearing aid kit, organized under the joint auspices of Bharatiya red cross,Udupi unit and Star key foundation (U.S.A) at Brahmagiri Red cross Bhavan.
Besides, five places in Beedar, Mysore, Bangalore, Tumkur and Belgaum have been identified for the construction of trauma centers. DDRC is taking responsibility of looking after programmes in 7 districts. Now aiming to expand DDRCs sub-unit in 20-23 districts, he said.
Continuing his speech, he said that hearing aids kit will be distributed on October 28 in Bangalore Ashoka hotel. In Karnataka, from 30 districts benefactors have come forward to receive this hearing aid kits costing Re 60-70 thousand at free of cost. Already 1428 benefactor’s names have been identified. These items are being imported from America and Rs 10 crore has been ear marked for this project, he added.
Dr Umesh Prabhu, vice chairman, Bharatiya Red Cross organization spoke on the occasion comprehensively. This time 17000 handicapped people are there in the districts and minimum 6 camps in a month will be organized, he said.
Niranjan Bhat, Director, handicapped rehabilitation centre said in his speech that around 52 thousand hearing machines has been arranged. Besides from 10th class onwards fees for the education will be paid by the department. After identifying the handicapped, Rs 50 thousand also be given to unmarried for their marriage. For senior citizens helpline,day care centre have been started. Follow up will be done by DDRC, he said
