Mangalore, September 7: Kadri police have arrested more than 100 of ABVP activists, who were staged protest in various places of city opposing the irregularities in the schedule cast, scheduled tribe and backward community government hostel and urging for fundamental facilities in the hostels.
The ABVP activists were staging a protest in front of Mangalore south MLA J.R Lobo and blocked the road in front of Taluk Panchayat, near Besant College, K.S Rao road and near Kadri K.P.T without gaining pre permission.
The ABVP activists staged protest in front MLA’s house during his absence and angered by this act Congress workers registered a complaint in the police. On the occasion police tried to convince the protestors and when they failed, they arrested more than 100 activists and took them to Kadri station.
After knowing the issue many numbers of Congress and BJP workers were gathered in front of the police station. ACP Kavitha has visited the station and discussed the matter with gathered people. BJP leaders have demanded to release the arrested, but Congress worker urged that ABVP activists were caused for pollution of peace around the area; hence, they must not be released.
Details: The ABVP activists staged protest near Taluk office, Besant circle and near K.P.T demanding the fundamental facilities on Friday.
After that they moved to submit the memorandum to MLA J.R Lobo’s house at Shivabagh. Though they got the news like the MLA is at Bangalore, they staged protest urging that he must come back to take the request.
Hence, angered by this action, Congress workers gathered in front of Kadri police station and urged to arrest the protestors.
On this regard police have arrested the protestors and did not release them till night 2 ‘o’ clock.
