Mangalore, March 27: Opposing the decision of allowing Toll gate construction in Suratkal by National Highway Authorities ‘Toll Gate Horata samiti ‘has organized a Peaceful protest from Suratkal main to NITK by Paadayaathra. Majority of the shop owners in Suratkal voluntarily closed their shops half day in support of the protest.
People from Suratkal to Mukka – Pavanje have participated in the protest. Speaking on the occasion Mr.Subhash Shetty-President, Suratkal Citizens Samiti has said that if Toll Gate is constructed near NITK where there is an arrangement for primary facilities public have to encounter problems in future.
Under the circumstances he urged the authorities immediately to stop the construction of Toll Gate in place where in the name of developmental works encroached most of the land illegally near NITK, Srinivas College, schools and colleges by the authorities.
In case the said work is not stopped immediately a stringent steps/action (struggle) will be taken opposing the construction of Toll Gate shortly by all the citizens of Suratkal and surrounding places he warned.
