Kundapur, Aug 27: A man who was under the influence of alcohol died after he was run over by a train at Hemmady near here on August 26, Monday night. The incident came to light on August 27, Tuesday morning.
The deceased is identified as Shanker Shetty (59) of Tekkatte Ultoor. It is being said that the man who was a laborer and residing at Hosanagar was an alcoholic.
Sources said that Shankar Shetty, originally from Ultoor and was living a Hosanagara.He was a daily wager and addicted to alcohol. He got two children from his first wife, whom he left and married to other women and was staying with her at Bandadi near Kanyana.
It was on August27, Monday, when he was coming intoxicated by walk at night, he lost his balance and fell on the train track. A liquor bottle and a packet of beedi were found near his dead body, sources said.
Since he was trapped under speeding train, he lost one of his hands, which is not traceable in spite of heavy search.
Kundapur police arrived to the spot and registered a case in this regard.
