Karkala; August 01: During question and answer period home minister K J George informed that 41 cases of drug mafia cases have been registered in Udipi and Dakshina Kannada district between 2010 and 2013. 28 out of 41 cases have been reported from udipi district alone.
He also suitably answered the questions raised by Sunil Kumar, MLA from Karkala constituency such as, in the twin districts how many drug mafia cases have been brought to the knowledge of government, how many cases have been registered and against whom cases have been filed and inquiry is in which stage etc?
He further added that in Udipi district, from 2010 till June 2013 end a total of 61 accused have been arrested, in two cases, two accused have been awarded punishment and other one, which is in enquiry stage and rest of the total 25 cases are in inquiry stage in court of law, he clarified.
Besides, he also informed that in Dakshina Kannada district, 22 people have been arrested in 13 cases, one person has been released and cases of 12 accused in enquiry stage in court of law.
