A reckless lorry pushes youngster to death

Bantwal Town Municipal councillor’s son died in a road mishap on National Highway 75 near Thumbe on Friday around 10.30am. 

Bantwal, Jul 26: A 23 year old youngster lost his life in the accident on national highway at Ramalkatte here on Friday July 26. The deceased is identified as Kaushik Shetty, son of Devadas Shetty, a member of Bantwal town municipal council (TMC).

According the sources, a lorry rammed into  Kaushik’s  Bike while he was riding towards Mangalore with his friend Sanjith Bhandary (23), son of Umesh Bhandary and he was rushed to Father Muller hospital at Thumbay, but unfortunately he was pronounced brought dead. He was running Sriram Nandini milk parlour near Bantwal bypass and was under taking minor construction works and he even possessed a contractor’s licence. .

His friend Sanjith, who suffered serious injuries, had been admitted to Father Muller hospital in Kankanady, Mangalore and he was in critical condition.

Kaushik Shetty is the elder among Devadas Shetty’s two sons and  was riding to Mangalore on work with his childhood friend and neighbor Sanjith. After post-mortem Kaushik’s body was handed over to his family and case has been registered in the Bantwal police station.

Lorry driver Chandrashekar has been arrested and a case has been registered at Bantwal Rural Police Station.
