Mangalore,July 26: TheTahsildar and Mangalore Police have busted illegal sand mafia & seized 17 transportation trucks transporting illegal sand behind Kannur mosque here on Friday July 26.
According the sources, none of the trucks had permit and each truck would fetch Rs 50,000 for transporting sand to Bangalore.
Ttahsildar Shivappa Lamani said that the operation was carried out based on specific information received in the morning and most of the trucks were transporting sand to Bangalore, while some others to local places. The officials of mines department will be informed and investigation will be done with their help, he added.
The trucks were shifted to Mangalore rural police station and a case has been registered and investigation is on the process.
