Mangaluru, December 30: Alleging that way was not given for the car to pass in Hyderabad, Andra Pradesh, a tanker driver was beaten up and murdered and also the conductor was seriously injured. In protest against this incident, thousands of tanker drivers and conductors suspended their service from Monday and took to protest at Kana falling under Suratkal police jurisdiction.
The deceased driver in the Hyderabad incident is identified as Saravanan from Tamil Nadu. The conductor of the tanker who was seriously injured and is in coma state is being treated in a hospital.
Details of the incident: On December 12th, driver Saravanan after filling HPCL gas from MRPL into bullet tanker went towards the direction of Andra Pradesh. When this tanker had reached Hyderabad on December 13th, a group travelling in an Omni car, opposing over the matter that the tanker had not left way for their car; pulled the tanker driver Saravanan and the conductor out of the tanker, bet them up badly and pushed them down from the flyover. The tanker driver Saravanan who was badly injured in the incident succumbed to his injuries in hospital on December 21st. The conductor of the tanker was seriously injured in this incident and has been admitted to hospital. He is in coma state, it is said.
Meanwhile, opposing the incident, the bullet tanker drivers and conductors of HPCL have suspended their works from Monday and are protesting. As a result, more than 1,500 tankers loaded with gas have remained off the roads. In addition, about 4,000 tankers that have come to load the gas were not allowed to move ahead by the protestors.
