MANGALORE: IAS officer Tulasi Maddineni assumed charge as the chief executive officer of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat on Monday.
The 2005 batch IAS officer took charge from outgoing CEO KN Vijayaprakash, who was in office from August 1, 2011. Vijayaprakash told reporters that he is happy to have served as CEO of the zilla panchayat, which bagged the Nirmal Bharath Puraskar during his tenure. “I have the satisfaction of implementing several initiatives through various departments especially under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and through women and child welfare department. I am also happy that the district has received several awards during my tenure,” he said adding that cooperation of officials of all departments led to success.
Vijayaprakash said that he has already rolled out a novel scheme to uplift Koraga community. “The zilla panchayat has initiated a scheme of issuing smart cards to all the 4,588 Koraga community members in the district. The bio-metric card will have all the data regarding community members including their property, house, family details and health chart. It will be useful for availing various scheme benefits meant to the community . A survey has already been conducted and 80% of the data entry process has been work completed,” he added.
Maddineni was the deputy commissioner of Koppal district prior to this.
