Mangalore, July 10: In a surprise move, JR Lobo, MLA from Mangalore south has paid a visit to city’s central market and reviewed the pathetic condition of the market on July 10, Wednesday.
Sources said that inside the central market there are around 92 shops are doing business. But traders who are doing business outside the central market and road side are not willing to carry out their business inside the central market. At the moment, no development works have been carried out.
Rain water is oozing from the roof resulting inconvenience for the customers to move around inside the market.
Besides traders, who are doing business outside the market are leaving their damaged, decayed and waste vegetables in the place where they are doing their business itself like a big heap without clearing the same and which in turn block the flow of rain water during monsoon, resulting complete rain water entering inside the market due to blockage of road. One of the senior traders has presented number of complaints with regard to their daily facing problems with MLA.
After inspecting entire market and hearing the grievances of traders, Lobo promised the traders that measures would be taken to address all your existing problems and directed them to accommodate the traders, who are conducting their business outside in the available place inside the market and suggested to keep market area very neat and clean.
Prominent congress leaders like T K Sudheer, Mohan Mendon, Kamalaksha Bajilakeri, Corporator Radhakrishna and MCC officials were with Lobo during the inspection period.
