Congress government has begin to roll out “Anna Bhagya Yojane,” its flagship scheme to supply rice at Re one per kg to below poverty line (BPL) families, on Wednesday
Kaup: “Anna Bagya Yojane”- 1 Kg rice for Rs 1 and 30 Kg per month for a family to Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holders. District Administration, Zilla Panchayth and The Food Supply Department and Consumer Department officially inaugurated the “Annabagya Scheme” in the district.
Vinay Kumar Sorakke (Minister Incharge) inaugurated and distributed the rice at Veerabhadra Sabhabavan, Kaup. The minister will also inaugurate this scheme at all constituencies in the district Kundapura, Karkala and Byndoor .
In his speech Sorakke said that the scheme is the implementation of promises as per the congress manifesto. Congress has brought many programmes which benefit the poor; this proves that the present government stands for the poor.
‘Today is the special day for Muslims brothers as they start their fasting from today and the Congress government wish no one in the state should struggle because of hunger’ he said and emphasized that helping the poorest of poor is what all the religions preach.
He added that through the implementation of Annabagya Yojane Congress government wanted to tell everyone that we are with the poor. Rs. 2.32 Crores will be the expense for the government in the district. Wheat will be given for Rs. 2 and 6 Kg per month.
Dr. M T Reju (DC) said that more that 1 Lac BPL card holders are there in Udupi district and in all 87 Lac in the State, Annabagya Yojane is a big project. He appealed all to utilize the facility. The Food Supply Department have also arranged a systematic computerized updated in individual level.
