Students clash over trivial issue at Mulki

MANGALORE: Three students of Vijaya College, Mulki, were assaulted on Wednesday, allegedly for not participating in a bandh called by a right wing student’s organization to protest the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a medical student in Manipal. The students are Raziq, 19, and Rifan, and Safwan, 18. The members of the student’s organization are said to have been heckling the trio over the issue ever since the protest was held.

According to police, a motorcycle driven by Shivu, a student of the college, had hit Rifan at Bappanadu on Tuesday. The students made peace. However, the patch up did not last long. bearing a grudge, the two groups of students were at each other

with Raziq alleging that he was beaten up by Shivu and four others.

Raziq, Rifan and Safwan were admitted to the primary health centre at Mulki. In a related development, Shivu and his friends Sharath, Rakshith, Sachin, and Sooraj, accused of beating up the trio, got themselves admitted in a private hospital alleging that they were also assaulted.
