Mangaluru, September 6: On the occasion of “Shree Krishna Janmashtami”, children dressed in the attire of Lord Shree Krishna flocked at the premises of the historical Kadri Shree Manjunateshwara Temple here to participate in the ‘National Childrren’s Festival – Shree Krishna Vesha Competition’ organized by the Kalkura Prathistana on Saturday, September 5th.
The event was symbolically inaugurated in a unique manner by placing a 11-month-old baby in a cradle, after which the dignitaries on the dais lit the ceremonial lamp. Among the guests were Kateel Shree Vedamurthy Laxminarayana Asranna, Karnataka Bank MD Jayaram Bhat, Kadri Temple treasurer A J Shetty, Pro. M B. Puranik, Vijayalakshmi Shetty, Aithappa Naik and others
The guests were welcomed by Pradeep Kumar Kalkura President of Kalkura Prathistana while Kadri Navaneetha Shetty compeered the event.
The interesting fact of this event is that the enthusiastic participants arrive here from across the country. This year special children were also given a chance to participate in the event.
Irrespective of the caste and creed, the event was open to all children. The children looked colourful dressed in the attire of Lord Shree Krishna.
Apart from the winners, all the participants were awarded with an attractive Panchaloha Idol of Udupi Kadagolu Krishna, Bhagavadgeetha, and consolation prize with certificate on the spot.
The Shree Krishna Vesha Competition was held in various categories for different age groups. Drawing competition for the children was conducted in six categories. Quiz competition was also held for children.
From three decades, Kalkura Prathistana has been organizing this competition every year.
