Mangalore, June 23: Students federation of India (SFI) Dakshina Kannada Unit has organized a protest in front of Mangalore District commissioner’s office on June 23, Sunday condemning the Manipal gang rape of medical student and given an ultimatum of 24 hours to arrest the culprits.
Addressing the protestors Ananth Nayak, president of SFI said in his address that this is one of the in-humane act of crime and all the people who have been involved in this heinous crime should be arrested soon and stringent punishment to be given as per the law of the land and ensure that no such incidents be repeated in future and demanded for the fair and transparent probe into the incident without bulging to any pressure from any of the political parties.
He further alleged that home and police department has completely failed in apprehending the culprits so far because they have hands in gloves with the culprits, that is why delay in arresting the culprits, he lamented.
He also alleged that supreme court has already passed an order to form a committee to prevent sexual harassment to police department but the same has not been implemented strictly, resulting delay in tracing the culprits.
SFI has given an ultimatum to both state government and police department for the arrest of the people involved in the incident within twenty four hours from now, otherwise call will be given for college Bandh both in Dakshina Kannada district and Udipi district.
Jagadish Soorya, SFI vice president, Nithin Kuttar, state president, Razak Montepadavu, secretary, Jeevanraj Kuttar, joint secretary among others were present.
