Mangaluru, July 2: A cheating case has been registered at Ullal police station against a man from Bengaluru alleging of cheating Rs 70 lakhs by assuring them of providing medical seats to three students in a college near Ullal.

The accused person is Vikram Kumar, owner of Career Guidance in K R Puram in Bengaluru.

A complaint has been filed by M G Subbaiah with the Ullal cops.

Vikram Kumar had assured M G Subbaiah that he would provide three medical seats at a medical college in Deralakatte under Ullal police jurisdiction for which he demanded Rs 36 lakhs for each medical seat. On June 11th, Vikram took Rs 6 lakhs in advance from Subbaiah in a hotel in Mangaluru.

On Monday Jun 29th, Vikram Kumar phoned the students and took them to the college in Deralakatte. There he collected the relevant documents from them. He told them that they should give him the money outside as the media will come to know if the money is handed over inside the college. The students gave him the cash accordingly.

Subbaiah and the students were made to wait at the college premises. When Vikram did not return, Subbaiah phoned him. Vikram said he was at a bank close-by and would arrive soon. Later the people who were waiting for Vikrant learnt that he had escaped with their money, as his mobile phone was found switched off. Subbaiah enquired at the college office and learnt that he had been duped.

Subbaiah later lodged a complaint at Ullal police station.

It is alleged that Vikram had taken Rs 70 lakhs together from three students.
