Mangaluru, June 30: The anganwadi workers and helpers protested in front of the DK district Zilla Panchayat office here demanding the immediate release of the deduced honorary amount. District anganwadi workers and helpers association organized the protest.
Anganwadi workers and helpers from the other districts too participated and supported the protest.
District president of the association, Vishalakshi said as state wide protest was staged demanding the release of the deduced honorary amount, in all the districts the anganwadi workers and helpers have received the amount. In Dakshina Kannada district, although memorandums had been continuously sent since the past one and a half years, there was no response from the concerned, she complained.
Although MLA JR Lobo had directed the concerned authorities to reimburse the deduced honorary amount, while a memorandum was submitted to the Department’s Chief Secretary and Director through MLA JR Lobo, yet no actions have been taken in this regard, she alleged.
State president of the association Jayalakshmi B R said, since the past six months salaries have not been given. Sudden transfers are also taking place. Due to his the anganwadi workers are worried. As the work timings are extended from afternoon to 4pm, they are facing problems. Although requisitions were sent to the concerned, no actions were taken, she said.
The protest was withdrawn after the women’s and Children’s and welfare department officials assured of paying the withheld deduced honorary amount at the earliest.
State secretary Vijaaylakshmi, Vice president Rohini, District secretary Chandravathy, vice president Kavitha Puttur, Sujatha Permannur, joint secretary Sanjeeva Belthangady, honorary advisor Aruna Puttur, Sullia Taluk association treasurer Lata Ambeakllu were present.
