The college management said that all the students who had symptoms of the infection were subjected to tests, and medications were given to them.

Post the nursing students protested in the college premises on Saturday, June 13th and the news was published in the media, people were anxious as MRSA was confused with the deadly MERS.

More than 40 students from 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of BSc (Nursing) degree course had been affected by this infection. The students had alleged that they were assigned the hospital duty instead of permitting to go home to take treatment.

The District health and family welfare officer, Dr Ramakrishna Rao, has informed that at the meeting being held on June 15th, the need to subject these students to detailed tests and the necessity of holding counseling sessions to educate them on MRSA will be discussed and a decision would be taken later.
