Mangalore/Udipi, June 18: Addressing a meeting held at Congress Bhavan in Udipi on June 18, Tuesday, KJ George, state home minister admitted that name of the police department has spoiled due to some bad and unwelcome incidents happened in the recent past during BJP rule.
He said that he has already issued a clear cut directive to the police department to register any complaint lodged by the public.
He said that few incidents which resulted in spoiling the image of police department, will not be tolerated in the future and department must work in such a way that it gains the confidence of the people.
Home minister also informed that the discussion will be held with officials concerned in connection with the idea of opening an all-women police station in Udipi.
Commenting on the incidents happened during the regime of BJP that brought bad repute to the district, Vinaya Kumar Sorake,minister for urban development has directed the police department to ensure that such incidents will not be repeated in future.
Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj also spoke on the occasion. Gopal Poojari, Udupi District Congress President, MA Gaffoor, former district Congress Chief, Veronica Carnelio, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor and others were present.
