Bantwal, May 27: Those who travel through BC Road were relieved, as the circle near BC Road bypass was cleared, and the new railway over-bridge was opened for traffic on experimental basis on Tuesday May 26th.
Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, A B Ibrahim, had inspected the situation in the town on Saturday. After discussing the matter with officials of highway, revenue, police departments and PWD on Sunday, he had come out with an idea that would address the problem.
Later, the bypass circle at BC Road was removed, and traffic was temporarily allowed to pass through the newly laid railway over-bridge. The vehicles moving on Bengaluru highway from Mangaluru are now allowed to move on flyover. Dividers have been removed, and vehicles were allowed to move to Dharmasthala and Panemangalore old town. After initiating these steps, on Tuesday, BC Road was witnessed free of traffic jam.
After observing the response to this changed traffic movement system, shortly; a meeting will be convened, said district In-charge Minister Ramanath Rai.
