D C orders citizens to deposit the arms and weapons before May 16th.

Mangaluru, May 14: As the gram Panchayat elections in the district is scheduled on May 29th, the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada District has ordered the citizens to deposit their arms and weapons within May 16th.

All the weapons which the citizens were permitted to possess have to be returned.  The licensed NPB revolver and pistols which are granted for self security must be immediately deposited in the nearby Police stations or with the arms dealer who possess Form 14 permit, ordered the Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim.

The weapons can be collected back one week (June 13th) after the announcements of electoral results. This order is not applicable to Mangalore City Corporation, Ullal Town Municipal Council, Moodbidri, Bantwal, Puttur Taluk Municipal Council, Mulki, Belthangady Town Panchayat and also the places where elections will not be held namely Vittal Kasaba, Kotekar, Venoor, Arambodi, and Pudu gram panchayat jurisdictions, informed the DC.
