DYFI protests urging the government to drop resort and Golf Course projects at Bengre

Mangaluru, May 13: Protest was staged by the DYFI in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Wednesday May 13th, urging the government to drop the luxury resort project and Golf Course proposed at Bengre here.

The protesters demanded the concerned authorities to immediately suspend the construction works of a compound wall on the sea shores by a private company and Tourism Department as part of the proposed project.

Other demands of the protesters are to provide justice to the poor fishermen families of Tannirbavi, Kasaba Bengre, Kudroli Bengre and Thota Bengre who are facing injustice at the hands of the Tourism Department. They also urged to provide door numbers, electricity connections and title deeds, which are deprived to many families of Bengre.

They urged for appropriate measures to supply pure drinking water to Bengre and also to appoint sufficient staff and provide necessary facilities to the Primary Health Centre at Bengre. More than 50 houses do not have electricity connections, while over 1000 houses have not been issued the door numbers.

The protesters also submitted a memorandum to the DC.

In the protest, DYFI State President Muneer Katipalla, city unit President- BK Imtiyaz, President of the Bengre unit- AB Naushad, and others had participated.
