Kodikere residents protest against the MSEZ for not supplying drinking water.

Mangaluru, May 6: People who have lost their land to MSEZ and are staying in Kodikere alleged that sufficient drinking water is not supplied to them and protested surrounding the office of MSEZ general manager in Urva store here on Tuesday, May 5th.

The MSEZ used to supply water through tankers to these relocated Kodikere residents. The system has been frozen now.

The protesters expressed their dissatisfaction that contaminated borewell water is unfit for drinking and even the water supplied through tankers has been stopped.

MP Naleen Kumar Kateel had directed the concerned to find some alternatives to address the drinking water scarcity. The authorities had said that the water supply system will be handed over to the MUDA. Due to their negligence later, this problem has arisen said the former MUDA president Ramesh.

Speaking on this occasion, corporator Ganesh Hosabettu said, nearly 400 families are suffering from scarcity of drinking water, and the concerned authorities are over looking this matter.

Responding to this, the general manager of MSEZ, S T Karekra has said this problem will be informed to the board of directors and a permanent solution to the problem will be found out. Till then temporarily ten tankers of water will be supplied and additional water will be supplied if it is needed, he assured.
