Doctors stress on theneed of Multimodal Approach for Bone Cancer Treatments

Mangalore,April,  24th :  HCG, the specialist in Cancer Care organized a press conference in Mangalore, along with specialized doctors to share awareness on the need of multimodal approach for cancer treatments especially for bone cancer. Multimodal approach includes handling of more than 2 types of treatment methods, mainly Surgery, Chemotherapy and Radiation.

This method mainly aims to improve not only the survival but the quality of life as well.Doctors offer multiple treatments that remove or shrink tumours and control symptoms, although each individual treatment option can have a positive impact on patients, clinical studies have proven the best results can only be achieved with a multimodal approach.

Present at the conference was patientMr. Jogi, a 35-year-old entrepreneur from Kundapurawho had a tumour in the tail bone and was treated at multiple places and with multiple modalities since 8 to 10 years. But he always ended up with a difficulty because of the disabling tumour as his haemoglobin keeps falling every time he walked or tried to do any daily activities. Apart from this he had a fungating wound in the tail bone which failed to heal completely.

Post his visit at HCG, he was thoroughly evaluated by the team of doctors and post various advanced investigations like PET CT, led by Dr.PramodChinder – Consultant – Ortho Oncology – HCG he was advised for novel adjuvant drugs and monitored continuously. Post his treatment, Mr. Jogi is now back to his entrepreneurial business back home in Kundapura with a happy family supporting him.
