Mangaluru, April 21: Foundation stone laying ceremony for the new Congress Bhavan will be organized at Mallikatta on Friday April 24th, informed Ibrahim Kodijal interim president of district Congress on Tuesday April 21st.
Ibrahim Kodijal addressing a press meet at the district Congress office here said, the foundation for the new Congress Bhavan will be laid by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, while the event will be presided over by Dr G Parmeshwar, president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).
Senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary, former union minister M Veerappa Moily, Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes, revenue minister Srinivas Prasad, minister for health and family welfare U T Khadar, minister for youth services and sports Abhaychandra Jain, urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLC Ivan D’Souza, MLAs Mohiuddin Bava, J R Lobo, Vasanth Bangera, Shakunthala Shetty and Mayor Jacintha Alfred will be the chief guests, he said.
District incharge minister B Ramanath Rai has extended a warm welcome to all. As he is occupied with another programme I was informed to organize the press meet. This was a long-cherished dream of Ramanath Rai and we hope that within an year, the construction will complete, said Kodijal.
Congress Bhavan will come up on 9 cents of government land in Mallikatta between Kadri Market and Lions Club building. Engineers are yet to give us the estimated cost for the building and we will not take any state government grants, he said.
All are welcome for the event to make it a success, said Ibrahim Kodijal.
Mayor Jacintha Vijaya Alfred, Former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, and others were also present.
