God’s silver Aureole stolen from temple

Mangalore/Bantwal, June 08: A case of theft has been reported in the early hours of morning on June 8, Saturday from Shree Chandika Parameshwari temple which is situated in the heart of B C Road.

It was reported that thieves entered the temple by breaking the door of sanctuary, where the sacred idol has been installed and decamped only with God’s Aureole worth Rs 5.5 lakhs.It is said that thieves entered the temple from behind with the help of ladder.

It is to the everybody’s surprise that except aureole, no other gold ornaments were stolen and without breaking the shrines of Ganapathi and Ayyappa, they ransacked administrative office by breaking the door of the office. It was also reported that Hundi box and hard cash have not been touched.

It was suspected that aureole might have been taken by breaking the door from behind and some evidences have also been found from the wooden structure of aureole, which was thrown in nearby hill area.

It was also reported that the stolen aureole was donated by business man Rakesh Malli during last Navarathri time.

Anil S Kulkarni,SP Circle inspector,Shekar from city police station and finger print experts have arrived to the place of theft.

The case has been registered with Bantwal city police station and investigation is in progress.
