DC AB Ibrahim orders not to collect tolls at NH 66 before completion of work.

Mangaluru, March 24: The Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district A B Ibrahim has ordered not to collect the tolls on the NH 66 at NITK area, prior to the completion of the works.

In the wake of truffle between the public’s and the contractors since a year, over the erection of toll centre on NH 66 at NITK area, the DC passed this order on Monday in a meeting held at his office here.

As the works on the highway are in the ending stage, the contractors expressed fear of suffering losses if it is still delayed.

Expressing opposition over this fact, President of Nagarika Samithi Subhas Chandra Shetty drew the attention in the meet on the fact that although the stipulated term is ended, the works still remain pending.

He was anxious on the fact that, if the toll collection is permitted now, the highway works might be further delayed. DC in response ordered not to erect toll center unless the works of Baikampady over bridge, service road, street light and others are completed.

Although many meetings were conducted over the matter of constructing the Baikampady over bridge, and service road, and moreover enough time was granted for it, the DC during the meeting charged the concerned authorities for exhibiting their negligence.
