Mangalore, June 7: It has been learnt from reliable sources that congress senior leaders are of the opinion that in the event of Janardhana poojary, former union minister is sent to Rajya Sabha, Vinaya Kumar sorake, urban development minister along with five other MLAs from the coastal region will be fielded in the ensuing Loka Sabha elections.
In view of securing more seats in the state, congress has been thinking of fielding more experienced charismatic, able and talented candidates for the upcoming loka sabha elections. In this regard party is contemplating to field Vinaya Kumar Sorake along with other five MLAs in different constituencies.
Party also thinking of fielding Baire Gowda, minister for agriculture, from Bangalore north constituency, T B Jayachandra from Tumkur constituency, M B Patil from Bijapur and Santosh Lad from Dharwad constituency.
Party also doing homework about fielding experienced, able, brilliant and charismatic candidates in the remaining constituencies.Jayaprakash Hegde will continue from Udipi-Chikamagalur constituency. In case Janardhana Poojary-former union minister is sent to Rajya Sabha from Mangalore loka sabha constituency, Vinaya Kumar sorake will be fielded to contest. In the event of Poojary not willing to go to Rajya Sabha, he will only be the candidate, it says.
In the twin cities of Udipi and Dakshina Kannada district, since Billawas and Bunts are more dominant, on the basis of caste , an experienced, able, dynamic candidates from the community only will be selected.
Also congress is planning to field the son of Margaret Alva from North Kannada loka sabha constituency and similarly exercise for the selection of the candidates for rest of the constituencies are also being discussed at party level. Party also expressed its desire to field the son of Shyamanur Shivashankarappa from Dhavangere constituency.
Since Ambareesh is not keen in contesting from Mandya,party is in search of another new face in his place. Fielding actress Ramya from Mandya is also in the card.
Similarly party has decided to field D K Suresh brother of D K Shiva Kumar from Kanakapura constituency.
Besides some retired senior IAS and IPS officers are also expressed their keenness to contest in the ensuing Loka Sabha elections. Even recently retired K Shivaram and siddayya also in the fray, it says.
