Mangaluru, March 21: The Unani unit at Wenlock hospital was inaugurated by Health and family welfare minister U T Khadar on Saturday March 21st.
Post the inauguration ceremony, the minister Khader directed the officials to further upgrade the Unani unit. He also inspected the hospital and directed the officials to replace old windows with the new ones. He also asked them to put in place the proper lighting arrangements in the passage.
Minister inspected the new dialysis centre and instructed the officials to complete the work sooner.
He also asked the officials to utilize the available space to set up a cafeteria inside the hospital. The space available behind the hospital will be used for a garden, he said.
DMO Dr Rajeshwari said, with the intention of adding super-speciality facilities to Wenlock hospital, the old DMO quarters will be demolished and the new block will be built at a cost of Rs 15.2 crore. Work on the new block will be started after obtaining the necessary funds and approval from the government, she said.
This new block will contain 176 beds, urology and neurosurgery section, operation theaters, regional blood transmission center as per the NACO guidelines and a high-tech casualty to attend the patients in case of acute emergency.
