Mangalore, June.06: 1855 litres of unauthorized blue kerosene that is meant for distribution among the poor were seized as The Food and Civil Supply Department along with the Pandeshwar police raided a shed in Hoige Bazar here on Thursday June 6.
Damodhar Karkera, the owner of the shed has been reportedly absconding. The illegal stock was stored at Bhagath Dingh road, Hoige Bazaar.
Nearly 36 bareels, including few empty ones were seized from the spot. Approximately 90 litres of mixed diesels were also found in the venue. It is learnt that the stock of kerosene is illegally stored especially in the monsoon season and sold to the nearby boat owners.
Some of the locals have also claimed that there has been a hidden hands of some highly influencial people and department, as he has been carrying out this illegal business, even after continuos raids.
The raid was lead by Charan Basappa, Depty Director, Food & Civil Supply, Suresh Kumar, Asst Director, Food & Civil Supply and staffs. Pandeshwar SI Sidappa and staffs.
Pandeshwar police have regsitered a case, but no arrest has been made so far.
