Mangaluru, March 9: Health and family welfare minister U T Khadar informed that the state government has planned to declare Ullal as the first place in the entire state as kerosene-free on March 11th after providing free gas supply to 570 very poor families in BPL out of 1300 BPL families.
Kahder, addressing a press meet at Circuit House here on Monday March 9th, said, when the food and civil supplies department on learning the news of making Ullal a kerosene-free town, it made a survey and found over 1,300 BPL families. Later a survey conducted by Ullal city municipality found 570 very poor families in BPL. It has been decided to provide free gas connections to these families and make Ullal kerosene-free city. A programme will be held on March 11th at 10 am in Ullal municipality ground, he said.
Number of cases of H1N1 (Swine Flu) disease is on a decline, said Khader. More than 80% people who had been afflicted with swine flu have recovered through medication. A committee of five doctors led by Dr Paramesh, has been formed to control and study the H1N1 disease, he said.
Khader said, under the NGNRY-III programme, Rs 19.86 crore has been sanctioned for the development of rural roads in the Ullal constituency.
Speaking on the central government’s budget, Kahder said the budget is not at all helpful for the layman and for farmers but it is favourable to corporates.
