Mangaluru, March 9: Vishwa Konkani Kendra in Mangaluru, celebrated the International Women’s Day in a unique way. Karnataka Konkani language academy, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, Kannada and Culture Department and Vishwa Konkani Kendra jointly observed Vishwa Konkani Sthree Diwas in the premises of Vishwa Konkani Kendra at Shakthinagar in Mangaluru on Sunday, March 8th.
Basti Vaman Shenoy, president of Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Deepa Pradeep Pai- Administrative Director of Hangyo Ice-creams along with other dignitaries lighted the lamp and inaugurated the programme.
Along with celebrating International Women’s Day, the Vishwa Konkani Kendra, has also planned projects for the empowerment of women. It has been intended to establish Sthree Shakthi mission, with a view of women’s empowerment. Providing Computer education to the women, including other benefits for women is before the Konkani Kendra.
On this occasion, Basti Vaman Shenoy, president of Vishwa Konkani Kendra, president of Konkani Sahitya Academy- Roy Castelino, Deepa Pradeep Pai, Vathsala Nayak, Geetha Kini and other dignitaries were present.
