The Akhila Bharatha Billava Union meeting which is held at Mangaluru is once again under controversies. The activists of Bilava community staged a silent protest in front of the Narayana Guru College where the meeting is being held.

The protestors expressed their fury over the fact alleging that Naveen Chandra D Suvarna, who is the president of Billava Union since 22 years has curbed interests of the community in order to protect his self- interest.

Protestors also alleged that the Bilalvas who are holding sashvatha pooja at Kudroli temple are excluded from the union. They are also refrained from village unions too.

Even though the membership applications are forwarded, they are rejected without verification. Over 4 lakh population of Billava community is spread across the district. But the member’s number is countable.

The Billava activists have said that at least in the coming days, this situation has to change; else they warned of intensifying their protest.
